Ogun Police arrests fake policeman


The suspect was found with a pair of police boots,and other police items.
The Ogun State Police Command on Tuesday said it arrested a fake policeman identified as Sule Samuel at Itori in Ewekoro Local Government Area of the state. The suspect, a father of three children, was apprehended and found with exhibits which include: a pair of police boots, green berret, police belt, police ID card, tear gas and a jack knife.
The Command Public Relations Officer, who arrested the suspect, told journalists in Abeokuta that the fake policeman was caught while the police was on a routine surveillance patrol at about 11:30 p.m.
Mr. Adejobi said the suspect was driving recklessly and was intercepted driving a blue golf car with registration number BE 77 LSD, adding that on interrogation he claimed to be a serving policeman with force number 241576 and attached to PMF 22 Lagos. He added that upon further interrogation, the suspect later confessed to have been dismissed from the police since 2006 for fake credentials.
“A pair of police booth, green berret, police belt, Police I’d card, tear gas and jack knife were recovered from him and he is presently in d SCID Eleweran for further investigation,” Mr. Adejobi disclosed.
The spokesman also on Tuesday lectured the Ogun State Council of Traditional Rulers on effective policing. The lecture was delivered during the monthly statutory meeting of the traditional rulers at Obas Complex, Okemosan, Abeokuta. He equally highlighted the relevance of the traditional institution in achieving effective policing in the society.
Mr. Adejobi, who focused on the concept of community policing, encouraged the monarchs to be close to the police in their locality and relate wit the Commissioner of Police who believes so much in the traditional rulers for perfect security of the state
.In his reaction, the Chairman of the Council and Paramount Ruler of Ijebuland, Sikiru Adetona, appreciated the Police Command for its efforts in checkmating crimes and criminals in the state.
