Ogun govt distributes 2,500 water pots to LGs

THE Ogun State government has distributed 2,500 ceramic water filter pots, known as “Omilero Pots”, to the 20 local government areas of the state.
The Commissioner for Rural Development, Mr Falilu Sabitu, gave the information in Abeokuta, during an interaction with newsmen.
Sabitu said the pots would help put an end to water-borne diseases, such as dysentery, cholera and diarrhea.
He said that the pots would also decimate pathogens, which breed typhoid and other water related diseases.
The commissioner said the state governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, was committed to the provision of necessary basic amenities to make life more abundant for rural dwellers and also put an end to rural-urban migration.
“Our plan is to develop the rural areas to city standards, make life more meaningful to the people in the rural areas even as we carry out renewal of the urban centres,’’ he said.
The commissioner said that the ministry would provide 440 kilometres of roads across the three senatorial districts in the two years.
He, however, urged residents of the state to pay their taxes and levies to enable the government implement the projects.
