1,000 apply for eight vacant positions in Ogun

Over 1,000 applicants have applied for eight vacant positions advertised by theOgun State House of Assembly Service Commission, PREMIUM TIMES findings revealed on Thursday.
The commission mandated all interested applicants to buy application forms for N1, 000 each by paying to two designated banks: Sterling and Guarantee Trust Bank.
The submission of the application forms, which closed on Tuesday, saw many of the eager applicants rush to meet the deadline for submission at Block D of the Commission’s office located at the State Secretariat, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.
The vacant positions include: Protocol Officer, Administrative Officer, Senior Administrative/Senior Legislative Officer, Assistant Chief Sergeant-at-Arm, Principal Sergeant-at-Arm, Senior Chamber Superintendent at Arms, and Higher Technical Officer
There had been complaints raised over the discrimination against polytechnic graduates by the advertisers. Out of the eight positions advertised, the commission called for applications from BSc holders for seven positions while HND holders could apply for only the Higher Technical Officer.
The commission’s advert came few days after the state governor, Ibikunle Amosun, condemned the federal government for discriminating between polytechnic and university graduates.
