Army Launches N25m Vocational Training Centre in Ogun

The Nigerian Army in Ogun State has marked its 150 years’ celebration in Abeokuta, the state capital, with the launching of a N25 million vocational training centre for improved development in the state.
The Army Commander, Brigadier-General David Ahmadu, disclosed this to newsmen at the launching in Abeokuta, and added that the Ultra-modern centre meant for Nigerian Army Officers Wives Association (NAOWA) and its community would contain an office complex with adequate required facilities that would cater for both Army officers and civilians.
He said the centre would engage in vocational trainings, ranging from catering, computer studies, hair-dressing, and cosmetology among others, adding that certificates would be awarded to every trainee that participates in the training at the centre.
The NAOWA Chairperson, Mrs. Marcella Ahmadu, said the ultra-modern centre would commence training of both children of the officers and its host communities. She said: “This project has become necessary for us at this time. It will not only foster but enhance the relationship between the civilians and military in the country.
“It is to better the lives of wives and the children of the Army officers and our close communities especially here in Alamala and Lafenwa Abeokuta”, she added.

As part of activities marking this year's Army Day celebration, the Headquarters 35 Artillery Brigade, Alamala Barracks, also engaged the civilians in health sanitisation exercise in the state capital.
Amadu, however, expressed satisfaction over the gestures they received from the market people, as he said the exercise was meant to strengthen cordial relationship between the military and the civilians in the state.
However, the medical team conducted free medical treatment and as well disbursed drugs to people at the open ground Ibara roundabout as people in their hundreds thronged the venue to access free treatment.
Meanwhile, a beneficiary, who identified himself as Mr. Thompson Osiwoga, a Combat Instructor said, “I am impressed, I have never seen military personnel performing this kind of job.”
